Charles William Stokes went to sleep in death on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at his home after a brief illness. Born on September 26, 1933 in Lafayette, Georgia, Charles was preceded in death by his parents J.D. and Pauline Reeves Stokes, his brothers, Robert, Michael, Nicholas.
Charles is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Arbadella Proveaux Stokes; Three Step Daughters & Sons in-law: Darlene & Donald Teichert of Mount Pleasant, SC; Deborah & Ray Krzyzaniak of Mount Pleasant, SC; Donna & Steve Wilson of Knoxville, TN. Three grandchildren, Jenna McPherson of Charleston, SC and Dana & Cody Krzyzaniak of Mount Pleasant, SC.
Charles dedicated his life to Jehovah God and was baptized in April of 1975. He served his spiritual family as an elder for over 30 years and was known as a compassionate and loving Christian man. His quiet and helpful demeanor will be missed by many. Two great loves that Charles had were his love of teaching the Bible and of serving God side by side with his wife and friend. Charles established and managed a successful company engineering geothermal wells and heat pumps. He also designed, fabricated, and patented state of the art equipment for drilling geothermal wells. Charles was shy and unassuming and many were unaware of his intelligence and vast talents.
