Charles Thomas "Tom" Starling

Charles Thomas Starling, 64, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 10, 2013. An Evening Prayer Service will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2013, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 7:00 PM. The family will receive friends at the chapel Wednesday from 5:00 PM until the time of the service.

Tom Starling was born October 25, 1948 in Smithfield, NC, son of Earl Henry Starling and Lois Bass Starling. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired Director of Sales & Marketing in the hospitality industry. Tom moved to Charleston to become the Director of Sales and Marketing for the Mills House, and found his new home. He had a successful career in both the Navy and in hospitality and most recently spent the last few years being a wonderful 'Granddude'. Tom loved sailing, golf, and enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the lowcountry.

He is survived by his son, C. Austin Starling, his daughter in law, Stacy Starling, his grandson Charles Adam Starling of Mt Pleasant, SC; his sisters, Carol Renfrow and her husband James, Joyce Norris and her husband Landis, Phyllis Ward and her husband Jerry, and Judy Allen and her husband Larry, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins, all of Johnston County, NC. He also leaves behind an honorary brother, Paul Rodenberg of Mount Pleasant. He was preceded in death by his parents.
