Charles Leonard Smith, 85, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Anne Farmer Smith entered into eternal rest Saturday, January 27, 2018. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, January 29, 2018 at the graveside in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL.
Charles was born December 31, 1932 in Sumter, South Carolina, son of the late Thomas "Coga" Smith, Sr., and Pearl Rollins Smith, Sr. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and was retired from the State Port Authority Planning Department. Charles was a former member of God Sam's Camping Club and Northbridge Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Farmer Smith of Charleston, SC; daughter, Allison Kostrzewa (Walter) of Windsor Locks, CT; step-daughter, Beth Gibbs (Thomas), of Charleston, SC; sister, Ann Smith Walls of Tuscaloosa, AL; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and survived by multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Mary Snyder, granddaughter Faith Snyder, two brothers, T.C. Smith, Jr., Fred Smith and a sister Pauline Stafford.
