On July 6, 2024, Charles Lewis Scherer (Chuck) loving cousin and friend passed away. He was 77. Chuck was born December 27, 1946, to Louise Liebenrood Scherer and Herbert H. Scherer.

Chuck was able to live independently. He was employed for many years by the Harbor Club.

He was a faithful member of St. Michael’s Anglican Church, where he served as a greeter. Chuck enjoyed participating in the life of the church.

Sports were an important part of Chuck’s life, especially Clemson football, Charleston RiverDogs games and College of Charleston basketball. He also enjoyed boating and fishing.

Chuck was a sweet gentle soul. He loved unconditionally and touched many lives with his dry wit and big smile.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Louise Scherer. The family would like to thank Gail Clark, coordinator for the Disability Board of Charleston, the staff of Canterbury House and the Meals on Wheels Program.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC at 3:00pm. Visitation with family and friends will be from 2:00pm-3:00pm at J. Henry Stuhr-Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mt. Pleasant SC the day of the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to St. Michael’s Church-Care Team, 71 Broad Street, Charleston, SC 29401, or Canterbury House, 175 Market St., Charleston, SC 29401.
