Charles Francis Richter, 86, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of the late Virginia Schofield Richter, lost his 20 year battle with Parkinson's Wednesday, June 3, 2026. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 8, 2026 at the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow at Brookdale/The Colonnade, 2030 Charlie Hall Blvd. Charleston.

Charles was born April 5, 1940 in Orangeburg, South Carolina, son of the late Randolph Noe Richter, Sr. and Hannah Phillips Richter. After graduating from Murray Vocational School, he spent his career in heating and air conditioning. Charles' life focus was on hard work and service to others. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, shrimping, and gardening. He also enjoyed NASCAR and football, and was a life long Clemson fan.

He is survived by two daughters, Vicki Elizabeth Richter (Jeff Osburn), Carol Ann Coleman; five grandchildren, Charlie (Toshie), Lee (Stacey), Chris (Lauren), Sara (Mike), Lisa (Gary); and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles Francis Richter Jr.
