Charles Fishburne Rhodes

February 5, 1962 — February 10, 2011

Charles Fishburne Rhodes, Jr. "Dusty" departed this earth Thursday morning, February 10, 2011 and went home to be with his Lord and Savior.  The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Dusty Rhodes are invited to attend his funeral services on Monday, February 14, 2011 at James Island Baptist Church at 11 a.m.  Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL on Sunday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.


Dusty was born February 5, 1962 in Charleston, SC, the son of Charles Fishburne Rhodes and Jo Ellen Brogdon Rhodes.  He was a Commercial Metal Roofer with CBS of Charleston, Inc. and a member of Oceanside Baptist Church and James Island Baptist Church.  Dusty was also a member of the Charleston Exchange Club, Founder of the SC Storm Baseball Team, as well as Youth Director at Charleston Baptist Church and Rutledge Memorial Baptist Church.  He served as a coach for St. Andrews Parks and Playgrounds and Charleston Christian School.  He was a graduate of Charleston Heights Baptist Academy and an alumnus of Liberty University.  Dusty was a man who loved all people and gave all he had for the benefit of others.  He desired to influence by emulating his Lord Jesus Christ in order to lead others down that path.  A special tribute was paid to Dusty by the 111th Congress of the United States.  It was presented by Representative James Clyburn and passed by the House on November 18, 2010.


He is survived by his wife, Kelly Lynch Rhodes of Charleston; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Jo Ellen Rhodes of Charleston; two sons, Charles F. Rhodes, III and his wife Frances of Charleston, Andrew Rhodes of Charleston; a daughter, Courtney Faith Walters and her husband Ryan of Charleston; a sister, Christine Korbisch and her husband Jamie of North Charleston; a grandson, Charles F. Rhodes, IV of Charleston; two nieces, Tiffany and Jennifer Korbisch.
