CPO Charles Daniel Ray, USN (Ret.), 71, of Summerville, South Carolina, husband of Marlene Everly Ray, entered into eternal rest Saturday, August 18, 2012. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 22, 2012, in the All Saints Chapel at the Joint Base Naval Station at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be private. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL.

Charles was born September 18, 1940 in Rolla, Missouri, son of John Ray and Virginia I. Bartram Ray. He was a retired chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; sons, Jimmy Ray of Ft. Collins, CO and Jamie Calvin Shaw of Nottingham, England; daughters, Lisa Ray of New Haven, CT, Marina Payne of Goose Creek, Vickie Caddell of Summerville, Debbie Carroll of Cross, Marissa Faima of Nottingham, England and Manette Brothwell of Nottingham, England; sister, Oral Ann Potere of Rolla, MO; 25 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
