Charles Meyer Othersen

Charles Meyer Othersen, 83, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Dorothy Armantrout Othersen entered into eternal rest Wednesday, January 9, 2019. The family will receive friends Friday, January 11, 2019 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 in Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Hwy. at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.

Charles was born July 22, 1935 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Henry Biemann Othersen and Lydia Smith Othersen. He was a graduate of Rivers High School. He was a sales territory manager in Heating and Air for over 40 years. He served over thirteen years in the Army Reserves and the National Guard. Charles was an active member of Ashley River Baptist Church and Bible Study Class of John Day. Lifetime member of ASHARE, board member of Charleston Ocean Front Villas of Folly Beach, SC. He was also a former member of St. Andrew's Baptist Church where he served as deacon, church treasurer and chairman of church school board.

Survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy "Dot" Armantrout of Charleston, SC; daughter, Dorothy Leigh Freston of Jonesboro, GA; grandsons, Brett Freston (Candance) of Hampton, GA, Sean Freston (Melissa) of Thomaston, GA, and Cory Freston (Rachel) of Stockbridge, GA; five great-grandchildren, Hannah Freston, Brayden Freston, Bryleigh Freston, Carter Freston, and Jackson Freston; brothers, Dr. Biemann Othersen (Janelle) and Claus Othersen (Mary Helen); sisters, Lydia Southworth and Catherine Johnson (Marion) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Tammy Charlene Ridge (Edward), son Charles Othersen Jr., and brother William Othersen.
