Charles Stephen Newman

Charles Stephen Newman, 64, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Sally Lavender Newman died Sunday, August 6, 2017. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2017 in East Cooper Baptist Church, 361 Egypt Road at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in New Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, 7169 Salem Road, New Zion, SC at 4:00 pm. The family will receive friends at East Cooper Baptist Church Wednesday from 10:00 until time of the service. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.

Charles was born October 9, 1952 in Austell, Georgia, son of the late Charles Newman, Jr. and the late Faye Babb Newman. He graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor's and Master's in Forest Management. He retired as a Senior Technical Forester from MeadWestvaco. Charles was an active member of East Cooper Baptist Church where he formally served as a deacon.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Sally L. Newman of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two daughters, Anne Blakely Newman and Katherine Babb Newman both of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sister, Babb Newman Attaway (Stewart) of North Augusta, SC; two nephews, Cameron Stewart Attaway of North Augusta, SC and Charles Newman Attaway of Raleigh, NC; mother-in-law, Anne Gibson Lavender of New Zion, SC; brother-in-law, Tommy Lavender (Cindy) of Columbia, SC and their family.
