Entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of March 3, 2011, Charles Wright Morton, husband of Roberta (Bobby) Neighbors Morton. Residence, Charleston, South Carolina. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Morton are invited to attend his funeral services Monday, March 7, 2011 at 10:30 am at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Burial will take place at 1 pm at Beaufort National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Monday from 9:30 until the time of service. Arrangement by J. Mr. Morton was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts on October 16, 1925, to the late Dr. Arthur Price Morton, Sr. and the late Lillian Wright Morton. He received his Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University and served in the United States Army and the United States Navy. Mr. Morton was a retired Nuclear Engineer from the Charleston Naval Shipyard and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was an ordained Deacon, an office volunteer, and enjoyed volunteering with Hands of Christ.
Surviving are his wife Roberta (Bobby) Morton; two daughters, Carolyn Morton Russo and her husband Marc of Mc Calla, AL, Roberta (Robin) Taconet and her husband Patrick of Charleston; five grandchildren, Elizabeth McKeithan Sondles, Catherine Forte, Matthew Eaton, Danielle Russo and Holly Russo; and a great grandchild Savannah June Sondles; a brother, Arthur Price Morton, Jr. of Charleston; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James D. Neighbors, Sr. of Beaufort, SC; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Morton is preceded in death by a grandson, Charles Henry McKeithan and a son-in-law, Thomas Scott McKeithan.
Memorials may be made in memory of Charles Morton to the Westminster Presbyterian Church Building Fund or Hands of Christ, 1157 Sam Rittenberg Blvd., Charleston, SC 29407.
