Charles Harold McLauchlin, Jr., 93, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Karen Nicely McLauchlin entered into eternal rest Thursday, August 31, 2017. His Memorial Service will be held Monday, September 4, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Monday in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Charles was born August 31,1923 in Florence, SC, son of the late Charles H. McLauchlin and Susie Beatrice Smith McLauchlin. He retired from Wells Masonry Construction Company as a Superintendent and was a 32° Mason. Charles served as a Sergeant in the USMC during WWII and was the recipient of the Presidential Unit Citation, the Navy Commendation Ribbon, Purple Heart, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with two battle participation stars, the American Theatre Ribbon and the Victory Ribbon with one star.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Karen McLauchlin of Charleston, SC; son, Charles Harold McLauchlin, III., of Walterboro, SC; four daughters, Susie Dale Huggins of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Charla Rodriguez, Patty McLauchlin both of Key West, FL, and Bonnie Sue Wiggins of Walterboro, SC; three brothers, Dick McLauchlin of Fayetteville, NC, Capt. Poo McLauchlin of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Lynn McLauchlin of Jefferson City, MO; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
