Charles “Charlie” Louis Tice, 61, of Bonneau, SC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born on May 4, 1965, in Oregon, Illinois; he was the beloved son of John Charles Tice and Virginia Mae Hillsman Tice.

Charles was a graduate of Summerville High School class of 1985. His desire was to follow in his father’s footsteps and continue the family legacy. In 1988, he joined Charleston County Jail, currently the Al Cannon Detention Center. He became a Deputy Sheriff in 1991 and went on to serve many departments within the Sheriff’s Office. Charlie retired in 2018 as a Master Deputy Sheriff after serving 30 years. He returned to serve in civil process until December of 2021.

Charlie was a proud father to Charles Louis Tice II (Chloe), Elizabeth Lynn Parton and Brittany Renee Tice (Eric). He was a loving PaPa to Denver, Averi, Kamrynn, and Emma Parton, Nolan Delgado and Kennedy Robinson. He leaves behind a beloved brother and sister; Michael Robert Tice (Dawn) of Valdosta, GA and Michelle Marie Tice of Bonneau, SC, along with many loved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and his brothers and sisters in blue.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his granddaughter Rylee Savannah Parton, along with his nephew John Paul Tice.

In his free time, he found great joy in woodworking, fishing, camping, riding motorcycles, and, most importantly, spending time with his family. Whether he was building something with his hands, enjoying the outdoors, hitting the open road, or making memories with those he loved, these passions reflected the life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind.

Charlie found great joy in his work and was deeply committed to serving his community. As a law enforcement officer, he proudly carried call number 132, a number that became more than just an identifier-it symbolized his unwavering dedication, integrity, and years of faithful service. To Charlie, 132 represented a legacy of honor, courage, and commitment to protecting others. He was also a devoted member of the Law Riders Motorcycle Club and generously dedicated his time to organizations such as Camp Happy Days and Toys for Tots. Whether through his volunteer work, his love of riding, or helping others, Charlie lived a life of service, compassion, and purpose. His legacy of service, strength, and unwavering love for his family will continue to inspire all who knew him.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Danielle, Sheri, and Chaplain Jordan with VCare Hospice who provided such tender, loving care during Charlie’s final days. Your gentle hands, kind words, and comforting presence turned a difficult time into a sacred journey. You brought peace not only to him but to our entire family. We will forever hold you in our hearts.

Family and friends are invited to honor his memory on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, located at 1494 Mathis Ferry Road. The family will receive guests from 10:00 AM until time of the service. A private burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to J. Henry Stuhr Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
