Charles John Jenkins, 77, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, beloved husband of Mary Kathleen “Kathy” Spellman Jenkins, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 12, 2026.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 950 Darrell Creek Trail, at 11:00 a.m., where he will also be inurned. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel.
Charles was born on May 6, 1948, in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Charles Bentley Jenkins and the late Vera Mae Whetzel Jenkins. He attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he played college football and was a founding member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity — experiences that shaped his lifelong love of leadership, teamwork, and connection. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and later earned his master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
He built a successful career as a Human Resources executive and was known for his integrity, wisdom, and genuine care for people. Charles was a mentor, a steady guide, and a trusted voice for many throughout his life.
A man of deep faith and service, Charles was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, a leader with Junior Achievement, a member of the Seaside Singers, and a South Carolina BBQ Judge — a role he approached with both seriousness and good humor.
Above all, Charles loved his family. He was a devoted husband to Kathy, a loving father, and a proud grandfather — affectionately known as “Big Daddy” by his grandchildren. He delighted in traveling abroad, playing golf, music, dancing, and time together. Fun-loving, kind, and generous, he was a rock for his family and a bright presence in the lives of many.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Kathleen “Kathy” Jenkins of Mount Pleasant, SC; his daughter, Allison S. Marlow and her husband Brandon Marlow of Birmingham, Alabama; his son, Alan C. Jenkins and his wife Pamela Jenkins of Charlotte, North Carolina; and his grandchildren, Brock Marlow, Addie Marlow, Blair Marlow, Charlie Jenkins, Grant Jenkins, and Milly Jenkins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Prinzing.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charles’s memory to St. Benedict Catholic Church.
Charles will be remembered for his warmth, his strength, his generosity of spirit, and the many lives he touched.
