Charles Calvin Jarman, Jr., 69, of Georgetown, SC, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at home with his wife and family by his side.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 1pm at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Rd. Funeral services will be held following the visitation at 2pm. Burial will be private.
Chuck was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina to Charles Calvin Jarman and Juanita Moore Jarman on August 8, 1956. He married the former JoAnn Tumbleston on October 20, 1985 in an old war bunker on Sullivan’s Island. They were blessed with 40 years of marriage. He graduated from North Carolina State. He spent the majority of his career as a Civil Structure Engineer for the Charleston County Public Works Department. Before retirement he enjoyed teaching Stormwater Management for Clemson University. Chuck was a proud member and former President of the Southeast Stormwater Association. During retirement you could find Chuck in his workshop building authentic rice trunks and barges to reflect the history of rice cultivation in Georgetown County.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Evan Jarman.
In addition to his wife, surviving are a daughter, Anna (Steven) Zitnick of Summerville, SC; a sister, Paula Taylor Jarman of Beaufort, NC; a daughter-in-law, Erin Downer Jarman of Mt. Pleasant, SC; a sister-in-law Cathy (Craig) Elder of Georgetown, SC; three grandchildren, Hadley, Madison and Zaine; nieces, nephews and many cousins.
Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association and the Ralph Johnson VA Medical Center, Charleston. The family of Chuck wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Tidelands Hospital of Georgetown, Encompass Health of Waccamaw Hospital, Yawkey Center for Cancer Care of Georgetown.
