Charles Gary Jackson, MD, 70, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Diane Helen Kmiec Jackson died Thursday, March 22, 2018. His funeral mass will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2018 in Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1149 Russell Drive at 10:00 am. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Gary was born March 26, 1947 in Trenton, New Jersey, son of Florence Lakomski Jackson and the late Wilbur Jackson. He was a Neuro-Otologist and was a hunting and fishing enthusiast. Gary attended St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA for his undergraduate degree. He then completed his medical degree at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. He conducted his internship and residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed his Fellowship with The Otology Group in Nashville, Tennessee where he practiced for 35 years.
Anyone who knew Gary was well aware of his professional accomplishments, but what was more remarkable than all of his work, was his love and devotion to his family. For 56 years, he loved one woman and gave her his whole heart. He was a devoted husband, a loving father to two daughters, and the best grandfather, to five grandchildren, anyone could ask for. Papi, as his grandchildren called him, had a way of making each grandchild feel special and important in their own individual way. His relationship with each child was personal and unique to each of them. He always knew the right thing to say, and shared all the wisdom he had gathered over his almost 71 years on this earth to make sure those he loved felt supported. He was truly a great teacher, provider and moral compass.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Diane H. Jackson and his beloved black Lab, Coco; two daughters, Kimberly Monica Seccareccio (Paul Latimer Seccareccio, Jr.) and Jennifer Jackson Durbin (Joshua Joseph Durbin); five grandchildren, Luca Maximus Seccareccio, Ella Sophia Seccareccio, Lula Evangeline Seccareccio, Alina Lily Durbin and Cameron Dylan Durbin; mother, Florence Jackson; brother, Brian Jackson (Lucia); brother-in-law, Richard Kmiec (Joan); niece, Lisa Bentz and nephew, Scott Kmiec.
