Charles Lawrence Irwin, 85, of Kiawah Island, South Carolina, husband of Daphne (Johnsie) Irwin, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
Larry was born August 28, 1939 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, son of Ralph H Irwin and Dorothy Colbert Irwin. He attended Shady Side Academy, graduated from Williston Academy in 1958 and attended Yale University, graduating with a B.A. in Economics 1963. He founded Irwin Alloys and Raw Materials trading in Ferro-Alloys, Scrap and Coal. With the decline of the steel industry, he joined Veka Inc. as President. He retired in 2002. He then moved to Brays Island in Sheldon SC where he enjoyed hunting with his German Shorthaired Pointers, shooting sporting clays, trap, fishing and golf. In addition to the activities at Brays Island, Larry thoroughly enjoyed his four hunting trips to Africa.
He is survived by his Son, Charles (Gail) Irwin, daugher Alison Lally, grandchildren Casey (Clem) Newcamp, Andrew Irwin, Garrett Lally, Shea Lally and three great grandchildren, Sage, Ember and Flora Newcamp.
