Charles Franklin Hollis, Jr.

June 1, 1944 — March 25, 2015

Charles Franklin Hollis, Jr., 70, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 with his family by his side. He will have a graveside service at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC with military honors on March 30, 2015, at 12:00 Noon. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL on Sunday, March 29, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm.

Charles was born June 1, 1944 in Bennettsville, South Carolina, son of the late Charles Franklin Hollis and Louise Alma Meiklejohn Hollis. He attended Wake Forest College graduating with a BA in 1966. Before entering active duty, Charles taught at Blenheim High School and then served decoratively as a Captain in the US Army from 1967 though 1971. Charles retired in Mt. Pleasant after having worked with Merrill Lynch in Columbia, Charleston and Dallas.

Charles is survived by his sister Helen Hollis Page of Sumter, his son Charles Franklin Hollis, III (Cass) of Atlanta, GA, his daughter Amelia Page Hollis of Santa Monica, CA. and by five grandchildren: Charles Franklin Hollis, IV, Laura Leone Hollis, Parker Haywood Hollis, Jacob Dudley Shaffer and Isabella Alexander Shaffer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Charleston Animal Society, 2455 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29406.
