Charles Huggins Hindman, Sr., husband of Charlotte Edna Goblet Hindman of Mt. Pleasant, SC died on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at his residence. The funeral service for Charles Hindman will be Tuesday morning, July 6, 2010 in Hibben United Methodist Church at ten o'clock. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 o'clock. Mr. Hindman was born November 1, 1916 in Chester, SC, son of the late Joseph H. Hindman and Effie Anna Huggins Hindman. He was a member of Hibben United Methodist Church and a World War II Veteran of the Army Air Corps. He was a retired farmer and owner of Pleasant Growers, Inc., partner in Goblet and Hindman Radio Service and served as Commissioner of Public Works, Mt. Pleasant, SC for thirty-four years. He was Past Master and life member of Etiwan Lodge #95AFM and a member of York Rite KCCH, Charleston, SC. The Hindmans celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on June 22, 2010. Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Charlotte Edna Hindman, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; six children and their spouses, Charles "Huggie" and Susan Stith Hindman, Ken and Susan Hindman Floyd, Joey and Ann Cullen Hindman, Al and Barbara Bennett Hindman, Lynn and Janie Hindman Yeargin, George (Dodge) and Lisa Coggin Hindman; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Oliver and Beth Banks, Annie and David Camp, Cloe and Chad Peeples, Charlie and Alissa Yeargin, Gray Yeargin, Ben Hindman, Will Yeargin, William Hindman and Simms Hindman; two great grandchildren, Grayson Peeples and Charlie Banks.
The family requests memorials be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605-4277.
