Charles Eugene Hazelwood, 76, of Ladson, SC, widower of Nan Paul Hazelwood, entered into eternal rest Sunday, May 4, 2014. His Memorial Service will be held in First Southern Methodist Church, 1301 Remount Road, Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 1:00 pm. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road.
Charles was born December 9, 1937 in Altoona, Alabama, son of the late Kenneth J. Hazelwood and Elsie Sloan Hazelwood. He was retired from Baker Hospital/Roper North, where he enjoyed over 40 years as a manager with the Radiology and Risk Management Department.
Charles Hazelwood was known and loved by many as a man who would stop at nothing to help others. Known simply as Mr. H by many of the children he took in and helped over the years, he was easy going, generous, and always ready to lend a hand or more. He was an experienced carpenter who built, repaired and improved almost every bit of wood he came into contact with over his long life. A proud husband, father, and grandfather, Charles was a true Southern Gentleman who inspired others to honor and celebrate each and every person that had the honor of making his acquaintance.
He is survived by his son, K.C Hazelwood (Rachel) of Ladson, SC; two daughters, Holly Simons (Aron) of Goose Creek, SC and Nancy Jones (Andy Lubel) of Potomac Falls, VA; grandchildren, James Hazelwood, Alyssa and Micah Simons, Eli, Zane and Logan Lubel; two sisters, Jackie Asaro of Goose Creek, SC and Billie Jean Hyman of Pinopolis, SC; and his beloved poodles, Cajun, Ellie, and Tia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Southern Methodist Church, 1301 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29406.
