Charles Henry Gifford

Charles "Chuck" Henry Gifford, 77, husband of Roberta Isaacs Gifford of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2011. All services will be private. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.

 Mr. Gifford was born on November 16, 1933 in New Britain, Connecticut, son of the late Charles Henry Gifford, II and Ellen Anderson Gifford.  He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was an Attorney with General Dynamics Electric Boat Division in Groton, CT. He received his 500 hours pin working as a volunteer with East Cooper Medical Center.  Chuck was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying kayaking, canoeing, and backpacking in the Lowcountry. 

He is survived by his wife Roberta I. Gifford of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three children, Dawn Nordlund and her husband, Dennis, of Delta, CO and Mark Gifford of Mansfield, CT; three step-children, Stacie Osber and her husband, Douglas, of Glastonbury, CT, Scott Karal of East Hartford, CT and Gregg Karal and his wife, Angie, of Plainville, CT; one sister, Dorothy Bothelo of Windsor, CT and seven grandchildren, Jessica and Megan Osber, Jarred and Alec Karal, Josiah, Samuel and Jeremiah Karal. The family request that donations be made to the East Cooper Medical Center, Volunteer Services Organization, 2000 Hospital Drive, Mt.
