Charles Edward Gardner

Charles Edward Gardner, known to his friends as both Charlie and Buck, 65, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Laura Turner Gardner, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015. His Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, April 2, 2015, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road. Interment will be held later. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 2, 2015, from 2:00 pm until the beginning of the service.

Charlie was born August 12, 1949 in Charleston Heights, South Carolina, son of the late John Marshall Gardner and Vera Rovenia Bell Gardner. He was employed with the Charleston Naval Shipyard and then J and M Foundry. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and the recipient of two Purple Hearts. Charlie attended St. Andrews Church - Mount Pleasant and was a member of VFW Post 3142 and the American Legion. He enjoyed golf and was a strong NASCAR fan.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Gardner of St. Stephens, SC; his son, Charles Gardner, Jr. of Goose Creek, SC; his step-son, Steven Moore of Mount Pleasant, SC; his step-daughter, Becky Tuggle of Mount Pleasant, SC; and his two brothers, Carl Gardner of North Charleston, SC and John Gardner of Mount Pleasant, SC. He was also survived by several grandchildren and his seven great-grandchildren.
