Charles Kindred Elliott, Jr., of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, formerly of Dobbs Ferry and Irvington, New York, and a summer resident of Madison, Connecticut, died Sunday, July 15, 2018. Born exactly one hundred years after his great-grandfather, John Craig Havemeyer, he was 85 years old. A memorial service will be held on July 27, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Benedict Catholic Church, 950 Darrell Creek Trail, Mount Pleasant, SC. Arrangements by J. Mr. Elliott was a graduate of Berkshire School in Sheffield, MA, Williams College, and Harvard Business School. From 1954 to 1956, he served in the U. S. Army. He spent twenty years in the pharmaceutical industry, retiring from CIBA-Geigy (now Novartis) in 1983. Locational consulting comprised his second career. Major consulting clients included Time Inc., Exxon Mobil, and UPS. He retired as Senior Vice President at Moran, Stahl and Boyer in 1995.
He served on the Dobbs Ferry School Board for six years, winning two elections and was instrumental in the building of a new Middle School there. He also served on the Board of Directors of Family Service of Westchester, Junior Achievement of Westchester, and the Hudson Valley Day Care Center in Dobbs Ferry, NY.
Surviving are his wife, the former Ann Whitney Whiting, and three children, Catherine Mitchell (Patrick) of Marietta, Georgia, Lisa Elliott of Madison, CT, and James Elliott (Cate) of New York City, NY, and a brother, Mitch of County Kildare, Ireland. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Bradford, of New York City, NY, Margaret Mitchell of Las Vegas, NV, Paige and Nicole Kronauer of Madison, CT, and Alice and William Elliott, of New York City, NY. He was preceded in death by his sister, Cynthia Sams of Snohomish, WA.
