Charles Edgar Decker

LCDR Charles Edgar Decker, US Navy (Ret.), 79, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, husband of Sandra Rose Burkell Decker entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 20, 2019. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the Plantation Memorial Gardens, 3345 South Live Oak Drive at 10:00 am. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road.
Charles was born January 15, 1940 in Jacksonville, Illinois, son of the late Charles Ray Decker and Mildred Louise Mills Decker. Charles retired after 20 years in the US Navy Submarine Force. He volunteered for Meals-on-Wheels, Voter Registration and US Navy Pharmacy. He liked to watch baseball and loved the Atlanta Braves. He was a big supporter of the Citadel.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Decker of Summerville, SC; daughter, Cheryl Smith (Randy) of Summerville, SC; grandson, Justin Christopher Smith of Summerville, SC; three sisters: Doris Brown of Crossville, TN, Ruth Clanton of Panama City Beach, FL and Sandra Kay Decker of Monticello, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold Edward Decker and Freddie Lee Decker; sisters, Norma Rae Decker and Betty Louise Decker.
