Charles Louis Cuzzell Jr., 94, of Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Behrens Cuzzell, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, October 8, 2014. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 10, 2014 in Lutheran Church of The Redeemer, 714 Riverdale Drive at 1:00 pm. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.
Charlie was born July 2, 1920 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Charles Louis Cuzzell and Marie Koster Cuzzell. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired as a Loftsman with the Charleston Naval Shipyard of 39 years. Charlie was a member of Lutheran Church of The Redeemer and was also a member of the Charleston Rifle Club, Charleston Elks Lodge and was a former outstanding Golden Gloves Boxer.
He is survived by his son, Charles L. Cuzzell, III and his wife Sherril of Summerville, SC, his two daughters, Sandra Marks and her husband Bill of Lone Star, SC and Marilyn Rasor and her husband Sam of Hernando, FL; two brothers, Leonard K. Cuzzell of Charleston, SC and Paul W. Cuzzell of James Island, SC. Surviving also are his four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, John Anthony Cuzzell and two sisters, Deloris Watkins and Rosemary Clayton.
