Charles Gilbert Croucher

October 21, 1933 — September 11, 2011

Entered into eternal rest the afternoon of September 11, 2011, Charles Gilbert "Ernie" Croucher, widower of Joan Brossart Croucher.  Residence, Charleston, South Carolina. Relatives and friends are invited  attend his Two Bell Service at the Fleet Reserve, Branch #50, 2815 Spruill Avenue, N. Charleston, Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 2pm. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Fleet Reserve from 1pm until the time of the service.


Born October 21, 1933 in Lancaster, Kentucky, Charles was the son of Robert Croucher and Eva Pruitt Croucher. He was a Navy veteran and retired as a CPO with 22 years of service during the Korean Conflict and Viet Nam War. Charles was president of the Fleet Reserve Home for 18 years, a life member of Fleet Reserve #50, was on the Fleet Reserve #50 Board and a member of the American Legion Post 112. He loved golf and his BAD Cadillac.


Survivors include his daughters: Susan C. Thigpen and husband David of Charleston and Sharon Pritchard of Charleston; sons: John E. Croucher and wife Sabrina of Cordsville, SC and Daniel W. Croucher and wife Debbie of Summerville; sisters: Helen McGuffey of Troy, Ohio, Joanne York of Greenville, Ohio and Mary Loxley of Troy, Ohio; brothers: Michael Croucher and Larry Croucher; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A son, Doug Croucher and brother, Robert, preceded him in death.
