Charles Roy Cadieu

Charles Roy Cadieu, born April 26, 1944 , passed away peacefully on July 10, 2023. Charles was the son of the late Ruth (Gaffney) and Roy Gayle Cadieu of Gaffney, SC.  Charles lived his life by this verse, "Let all that you do be done in love" Corinthians 16:14.

He Loved God, his partner, Nora Zamarripa, his family, and his hometown, Gaffney, SC.

He attended Gaffney High School and genuinely loved his Alma Mater NC State University. Charles was very proud of his Dad Roy Cadieu, whom he lost very early in life. His mother, grandmother, aunts, and sister, Joan Gayle, provided for him in his dad's absence, with a nurturing matriarchal upbringing. After 38 years as a Health Inspector with DHEC, Charles retired in 2006. He always felt he was keeping his community a safer place. He loved comedians Jerry Clower and James Gregory as well as the "Peanuts" cartoon character. He loved to laugh, was an avid reader, lover of history, and his genealogy to the town of Gaffney, SC. He was a proud Philanthropist to many charities for many years.

Charles struggled for several years with Congestive Heart Failure. 

He was predeceased by his only sister, Joan Gayle Canady (Wilton); his dearly beloved of 24 years, Nora Zamarripa. He is survived by his cousins, nieces, and nephew. Special thanks are given to Alexis and Ludo Van de Wiel and family. True friends to the end of his life.

Grateful appreciation to the staff of Amedisys Hospice and to his Aids, Janice Ladson, Jennifer Brown, and all others who helped in his care during his last days of CHF.  God Bless you all. Funeral arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel.

Visitation will be on Monday, July 24, 2023 in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel at 1:00 p.m.  Funeral Mass will be Tuesday,  July 25, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m., 1695 Wallenberg Blvd. West Ashley, SC 29414.  Internment will be at 1:00 p.m. in Gaffney, SC at Frederick Memorial Garden on Thursday, July 27, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in memory of Charles R. Cadieu.
