Charles J. "Charlie" Brisben, 44, departed this life on the evening of February 23, 2012.
He was the son of John M. Brisben and the late Olga D. Brisben of North Charleston, SC. Charlie was born on March 5, 1967 in Charleston, SC. He was a graduate of Bishop England High School and Francis Marion College. He excelled at football and baseball while at Bishop England. An avid outdoorsman he devoted much of this time to hunting and fishing and was a strong supporter and steward of his beloved forest, wetlands and rivers. At an early age he was the Southeast Regional Golden Gloves Champion. He was selected by the Association of the Mobility Impaired to appear before the House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress in Washington, DC. He was noted for spending numerous hours at MUSC teaching the physical therapy trainees the care and management of handicap patients which evolved hunting and fishing skills.
The funeral service will be held at Park Circle Presbyterian Church, Monday, February 27, 2012 at 1:00 pm. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL, 2119 Dorchester Road, Sunday, February 26, 2012 between 4:00 and 6:00 pm.
Charlie is survived by his daughter Lanie L. Brisben of Hartsville, SC; his father John M. Brisben of North Charleston, SC; two brothers, Harry H.F. (Hootie) Hutson, III of Mount Pleasant, SC and John D. Hutson of Atlantic Beach, FL; numerous nieces and nephews and a faithful caregiver of 12 years, David Truluck. He was predeceased by his mother Olga D. Brisben and a brother, Lawrence R. Hutson both of North Charleston, SC.
