Charles Roger Allen, 68, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Karen Raynes Allen died Friday, November 20, 2015. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 28, 2015 in the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, 681 McCants Drive, at 2:00 p.m. Interment, Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road.

Roger was born May 26, 1947 in Rutherfordton, North Carolina, son of the late Charles W. Allen and the late Dorothy McCurry Allen. He graduated from Wake Forest University in 1969 and served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1969-1979. Roger began his professional career at First Citizens Bank and The Heritage Bank in Lincolnton and Bailey, NC. In 1973, he left banking to work as an independent owner of various start-up businesses and franchises. From 1990-2000, he then founded, built, and sold three national third-party financial service companies in which he served in positions of owner, President, CEO, and corporate officer. In 2002, Roger and his wife purchased a master development agreement with Great Clips, Inc. for the Charleston, SC market and moved to Charleston to build the Great Clips franchise. He also worked with many volunteer organizations through Great Clips and through International Cooperating Ministries (ICM). Roger was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant. He loved to read, ride bikes, hike, snow ski, sail and travel in his motor home.

In addition to his wife, Karen, he is survived by his daughter, Anne-Taylor Allen; sister, Dottie A. Wilson; nieces Bristol S. Wilson, Julie W. Reynolds, and Aim"e W. Chiapetta; great-nephew Liam O. Wilson; mother-in-law, Anne G. Raynes; brothers-in-law, Mel T. Raynes and Mark G. Raynes; as well as many cousins, friends, and his extended Great Clips and ICM families.
