Charlene Marie Crownover Pendergast, 62, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, beloved wife of Charles A. Pendergast, was welcomed into the arms of her Loving Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 26, 2016. Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2016, in the Cathedral Of Praise, 3790 Ashley Phosphate Road, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday, March 28, 2016, in J. HENRY STUHR INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, North Charleston, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Charlene was born July 5, 1953 in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, to the late Charles M. Crownover and Sandella Zuppo Crownover. Charlene graduated from Chief Logan High School and set out on her life's adventure which brought her to Charleston, SC. She married Chuck, her treasured husband, in July of 1985. They served, ministered, and loved life together for over 30 years. Charlene studied at Trident Technical College. She worked in ophthalmology with Dr. Evan Jones and Dr. Philip McGowan, and was employed with Dr. Floyd Putney and Dr. William Wilson in OB/GYN. Most recently, she worked as a member of the staff at Cathedral of Praise Church. Charlene was a lover of people, encourager, and faithful friend to many. Chuck and Charlene served as leaders of numerous group ministries at Church on the Rock, and Cathedral of Praise. She enjoyed crafts, decorating, and was an amazing wordsmith. Charlene was known for her incredible humor and wit that stuck with you and made you smile just thinking of it.
Charlene is survived by her husband, Charles "Chuck" A. Pendergast of Goose Creek, SC; two sisters, Charlotte Wolfkiel of Lewistown, PA, and Cynthia Bonk (Jeff) of Eaton Rapids, MI; brother, Allen Guyer of Iowa; and nephews, Jared Bonk, Jordan Bonk, and Billy Wolfkiel. She is also survived by her in-laws, Charles L. Pendergast (Beverly) of Buffalo, NY, sister-in-laws, Patience, Kathleen, Elizabeth, and brother-in-law, David. She is also survived by her 12 pound guardian, Thunder, who answered the door and was often on her lap. Charlene is predeceased by her parents.
Deep appreciation and much gratitude is extended to Charlene's church family, her compassionate caretakers especially, Dr. Teeresa Sisodia, and Dr. Yanis Belill and his staff and nurses.
