Charilla Thomas Barham, 72, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Richard Elliott Barham entered into eternal rest Saturday, September 22, 2012. Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 26, 2012 in St. Philip's Episcopal Church at 3:30 pm. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 25, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Interment will be Saturday, September 29, 2012 in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, VA at 11:00 am. Family and friends are invited and encouraged to attend.
Mrs. Barham was born November 19, 1939 in Richmond, Virginia, daughter of J. Warrick Thomas, M.D. and Norma Busbee Thomas. She attended St. Catherine's School in Richmond, Virginia and graduated from St. Mary's College in Maryland. She served as Administrative Assistant to the Head of School at Porter-Gaud School from 1989-2011. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and influenced countless students throughout her years at Porter-Gaud and mentored many.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years; sons: William Thomas Barham (Beth) of Atlanta, GA, and John Clifton Barham (Margie) of Charleston, SC; daughter, Elizabeth Kenton Barham of Charleston, SC; four grandchildren: Colin, George, Ellie, and Sarah; and brother, John W. Thomas Jr., of Richmond, VA. She was predeceased by her son, Richard Elliott Barham Jr.
