Chaplain Israel Savannis Fogle, Jr., 88, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of the late Lydia Celeste Haselden Fogle entered into eternal rest Monday, September 11, 2017. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in Charleston Baptist Church, 13 San Miguel Road, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.
Israel was born September 12, 1928 in Orangeburg, SC, son of late Israel Savannis Fogle and Maggie Metts Fogle. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Israel was a retired civil servant with the Charleston Naval Hospital. He was the longest serving member of St. Andrews Fire Dept for over 55 years and was serving as Chaplain to the department until his passing.. Israel was the former owner of Fogle Auto Wholesale and Fogle Towing Service. He was a member of St. Andrews Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He is survived by his two daughters, Margaret Jane Whitaker (Matt) of Goose Creek, SC, Elizabeth "Bootsi" Price (Chuck) of Clinton, PA; son, Anthony "Tony" Fogle of Charleston, SC; eight grandchildren, Chuck Price (Letitia), Terry Price, Tina Smith (Bob), Timmy Craven, Melissa Davis (Leslee), Amanda Cribb (Richard), Ashley Fogle, Addison Powers; twelve great-grandchildren, Brian, Dyllan, Shaleea, Shanna, Emily, Matthew, Morgan, Savannah, Emma Grace, John, Madilyn, Isabella, and two great-great-grandchildren, Cora Legh, Jackson.
