Cecil Macklin Yates, 80, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, widower of Norma Neilson Yates, entered into eternal rest Friday, September 13, 2013. His Funeral Service will be held Sunday, September 15, 2013, in J. HENRY STUHR NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road at 3:00 pm. Interment, Plantation Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr Northwoods Chapel.

Cecil was born February 27, 1933, in Madison, Florida, son of William Avery Yates and Hazkel Yates. He was retired from the Charleston Navy Shipyard, where he was employed as a Machine Shop Planner. Cecil loved gardening and grew exotic peppers, he also loved old western movies.

He is survived by his son, Michael Yates and his wife, Heather L., of Taylors, SC; two brothers, William A. Yates, Jr. and James Yates both of Bowie MD, two granddaughters, Heather J. and her husband, Lance Rosencrans of Albany, GA, and Emma Caitlin Yates of Taylors, SC; his loving caregiver and friend, Carol L. Overstreet and friend, Edward J. Butler, both of Moncks Corner, SC. Cecil is preceded in death by his brother, Frank Yates.
