Cecil Coleman Summersett

Cecil Coleman Summersett, 78, of Awendaw, South Carolina, husband of Nancy Cawley Summersett died Wednesday, December 16, 2015. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 18, 2015 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in Wilson Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 17, 2015 in the Mount Pleasant Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Coleman was born October 1, 1937 in Awendaw, South Carolina, son of the late Walter Coakley Summersett and the late Emma Bradwell Summersett. He was a self educated and self motivated man. Starting at the early age of 15, he worked as a deck hand on a tug boat and he advanced to Docking Pilot thru the years before retiring in 2011. Coleman's happiness and contentment was when he was on the water, whether it be shrimping, fishing, oystering, or anything to be on the open water.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Summersett of Awendaw, SC; and a daughter, Nancy Samantha Summersett of Awendaw, SC. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
