Cecil Ray Lambert, 92, of Charleston, SC entered eternal rest on Friday, October 16, 2026, at the Veteran’s Victory House in Walterboro, SC.
Known to most as “Ray” and to some friends as “Tex”, he was born on March 10, 1934, in Spurger, Texas, the only child of Arthur F. and Mattie Lee Lambert.
Ray joined the United States Air Force in Texas, which eventually led him to Charleston, SC, where he married his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, June Glover Lambert, who preceded him in death in 2015. Although Ray made Charleston his lifelong home, he stayed true to his Texas roots and always considered himself a Texan.
Ray and June had two loving daughters, the older daughter, Tammy Lambert Bair, passed away almost one year ago. He is survived by their daughter, Angela Lambert West (Rick), of Charleston, SC. He is also survived by their beloved grandchild, Christopher M. Bair (Rebekah), of John’s Island, SC.
He began his civilian career as an aircraft electrician at the Charleston Air Force Base, after leaving the Air Force, eventually retiring in 1989.
A member of Grace United Methodist Church in West Ashley for over 60 years, he was always ready to help anyone in need, however he could. This included family, friends, neighbors, and people he did not know. Even while living in the assisted living community when he was no longer able to walk, he was always found lending a helping hand to his fellow residents whenever he was able.
Deeply loyal, conscientious, and hardworking, Ray even held two jobs many times in his life.
Outside of work and helping family and friends, he loved spending time outdoors-with his horse in his younger years and watching his birds and squirrels later in life. He was also known for his mechanical skills, transforming what others considered trash into treasures that looked like new.
The funeral service will take place at 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Grace United Methodist Church at 1601 Sam Rittenberg Blvd., Charleston, SC. Friends will be received prior to the service in the sanctuary. Burial will take place on at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at Live Oak Memorial Gardens on Ashley River Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 1601 Sam Rittenberg Blvd., Charleston, SC 29407.
Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
