Cecil Edward Goodroe, 80, of Charleston, SC, died Thursday, May 25, 2017. His funeral service will be held Sunday, May 28, 2017 in the New Covenant Church of God, 2801 Ashley Phosphate Road at 4:00 pm. Interment, with military honors, will be held, Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Beaufort National Cemetery at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 pm until the time of the service at the church. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel.
Cecil was born August 12, 1936 in Phenix City, AL, son of the late Richard Bennett Goodroe and the late Mary Modling Goodroe Bryant. He served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War and also in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was an AandE licensed mechanic at Emory Riddle Aeronautical Institute and also had a commercial pilot license. As a realtor in Jacksonville, FL he owned Goodroe Realty and later retired from sales with Kinco Windows and Doors in Charleston, SC. Cecil was an active member of New Covenant Church of God assisting with the Senior Adult Ministry and as a greeter. He volunteered at Juvenile Justice Center and enjoyed hunting, fishing, R'Ving, camping and boating.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Fulton Goodroe of Charleston, SC; daughter, Deborah Carter (Charles) of Goose Creek, SC; son, Craig Goodroe (Colleen) of Murphy, TX; grandchildren: Hunter Carter, Haleigh Carter of Goose Creek, SC, Megan Goodroe, Matthew Goodroe of Murphy, TX, Ashlynn Johnson (Dante') of Hanahan, SC, David Carter (Allison) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; great-grandchildren, Siya and Stryker Johnson of Hanahan, SC.
