Catherine Liger Siegling

January 12, 1935 — January 6, 2021

Catherine Liger Siegling, 85, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of the late Charles Casimir Siegling, Jr., entered into eternal rest Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Her Memorial Service will be held graveside Saturday, January 23, 2021 in Live Oak Memorial Gardens at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

Cassie was born January 12, 1935 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late William Robert Liger and Vallie Youngblood Liger. She was a graduate of St. Andrews Parish High School, SC Baptist Hospital School of Nursing and MUSC BA of Health Sciences. Catherine was a charter member and head of SC Nurses Association, Director of First Women's Halfway house in Charleston, SC "Shamrock House" and was a clinical counselor with a Masters in Counseling for addiction. Catherine served as a public health nurse before transitioning to the Charleston County Substance Abuse Commission where she established the Employee Assistance Program and served as the direct for over 20 years. After retirement she worked for Charleston County School District as a school nurse for Stono Elementary. She was an avid member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Catherine is survived by her daughter, Robin Pitman of Charleston, SC; two sons: Edgar LeRoy "Lee" Plate, Jr. (Sheryl) and Charles Casimir "Cas" Siegling III (Angel) all of Charleston, SC; grandchildren: Gregory and Shellie Pitman, Drayton Siegling and Tradd Siegling; and great-grandson, Waylon Pitman.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or Susan G. Komen Foundation.
