Catherine Mae "Kitty" Stelljes Brown, 88, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of the late John Robert Brown died Wednesday, September 6, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 8, 2017 in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 405 King Street at 3:00 pm where the family will receive friends in the church auditorium one hour prior to the service. Interment service will be held later in Magnolia Cemetery. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Kitty was born November 28, 1928 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Frederick John Henry Stelljes and the late Jennie Haye Stelljes. She graduated from Memminger High School in 1946 and retired from the Gas Operations Department of South Carolina Electric and Gas Company. She was a member of the Isle of Palms Exchange Club, Isle of Palms Garden Club, life member of the Sand Dunes Club, member of the Charleston Rifle Club, and a member and past president of the O.E.S. She was a long time member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and a sister-in-law, Betty McMahon Stelljes. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Frederick John Henry Stelljes, Jr. and his wife Dolores and Edwin Herman Dietrick Stelljes, Sr. and a sister, Margaret E. Fitch and her husband, R.M. Fitch, Sr.
