Ross was born July 6, 1942, in Glen Burnie, Maryland, son of the late Carroll Ross Hamilton, Sr. and the late Carrie Phelps Hamilton. He retired from the United States Air Force, after a distinguished career, as a Chief Master Sergeant serving for 30 years. He was a very patriotic American and proud veteran having served in Vietnam. He loved God, County and Family and proudly respected the American Flag. He was loving, caring, supportive, tough and loyal. Always expecting the best from his family and never accepting less than the best. He was a great role model, scary to some, but to those who knew him, he was an exceptional man, and all tried to live up to his moral code. He cared for others and was very involved in the American Legion; he raised money for scholarships for deserving students for many years. He loved to help anyone that needed assistance in any way possible. He never met a stranger and talked to everyone he met. The staff at Harmony and NHC all said how much joy he brought to them with his contagious smile and sense of humor. He enjoyed golfing, and tinkering with scanners, electronics, and CB radios. He also loved music and dancing while enjoying time off work. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a wonderful Father, Grandfather son, brother and friend. His wise council will be missed but will live on in the wonderful legacy he leaves behind. The life he led was not based on its length but on its depth and his ability to love; he loved life and his family without question.
He is survived by one son Scott (Sharon Melia) Hamilton of Kettering, Ohio, two daughters, Lori (Dominick) Bataller of Johns Island, SC,; Samantha (Dougie) Wylie of Johns Island, SC, two granddaughters, Erica Bataller (Joey) Ballenger, Allie Hamilton; three grandsons, Zachary (Chelsea) Hamilton, Brandon (Kayla) Hamilton, Cameron Collins; two great-grandsons, Nicholas Ballenger, Easton Hamilton; great-granddaughter, Katelyn Ballenger; sister, Donna (Tommy) Rogers of Glen Burnie, MD; brother, Dennis (Rhonda) Hamilton of Glen Burnie, MD. He is also survived by many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Linda Dunkle Hamilton. Also, by his second wife Norma Cowman Hamilton.
