Carolyn Atkins Upchurch

Carolyn Atkins Upchurch, 93, of North Charleston, SC, widow of Lebeus Eugene Upchurch, entered into eternal rest Thursday, January 20, 2022. Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2022 in the Coastal Light Baptist Church, 2543 Ashley River Road at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens on Ashley River Rd. The family will receive friends at the church, one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.

Carolyn was born August 15, 1928 in Vance, SC, daughter of the late Thomas L. Atkins and Geneva Estelle Haddock. She was a life-long homemaker. Carolyn had a very special talent for sewing and crocheting. She would both design, then create her own clothing, made bedspreads for the boys as well as many other projects. She was a long-standing member of the Coastal Light Baptist Church, where she was affectionately knows as "Grammy" by her church family.
She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Cassandra Johnson and her husband, David; two grandsons, David and Johnathan (Michele) Johnson; five great-grandchildren, DJ, Cameron, Nathaniell, Sandy and Trevin Johnson; two great-great grandchildren, Lydia and Eli Johnson; the surviving children of her sister Marguerite Windham, Sharron Detwiler, Geneva Lowder, Sheree Godwin and Billy Windham.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 52 years; nine brothers and eight sisters.
