Carolyn Jean Kelsey Riefler, 86, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of the late Roger Riefler, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 6, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 2:00 pm, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 950 Darrell Creek Trail, Mount Pleasant. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. Arrangements are by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel.

Carolyn was born on September 13, 1939, in Long Island, New York, the daughter of the late John Newton Kelsey and R. Mary Grabuskey Kelsey. Throughout her life, she was cherished by friends and family for her gracious spirit and generous heart. She served her community through volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and found joy in cooking and baking for those she loved. Carolyn also enjoyed crafting and creating seasonal decorations for her home. She was an avid Bridge player and an active member of PEO.

Carolyn’s late husband, Dr. Roger Riefler, served as head of the Economics Department at the University of Nebraska. Together, they were devoted Nebraska Cornhusker fans and especially loved cheering for the Huskers’ football and volleyball teams. Carolyn also treasured the many years she spent with her beloved four-legged companions-Libby, Walker, Shadow and Katie.

She is survived by her sister, Jacqueline F. Spraul of Charleston, SC; her nieces Connie Quinlan, Jenny Chewning, Laura Hill, and Heidi Fredericks; and her nephews Brian Racanelli, Jeff Riefler, and Billy Spraul.
