Carolyn Julia Martin
Loss
October 26, 1940 – December 13, 2025
Memorial Service
St. Benedict Catholic Church
Starts at 11:00 am (Eastern time)
Carolyn Julia Loss of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina and formerly of Walkersville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025, at the age of 85. A memorial service will be held in her honor, Saturday, March 14, 2026 in St. Benedict Catholic Church, 950 Darrell Creek Trail, Mt. Pleasant, SC, at 11:00 am.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, to Arthur and Peggy Martin, Carolyn’s life was shaped early by a deep love for God, family, and country. These values became the foundation of who she was and how she lived-quietly, faithfully, and with purpose.
Above all, Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her life centered on caring for others, especially her family, whom she nurtured with steadiness, warmth, and unwavering faith. She is survived by her beloved husband, Gregory E. Loss, and their four sons: Gregory Jr. (Jayne), Michael (Crystal), Stephen, and Timothy (Amanda), and siblings Arthur Martin Jr. (Nancy) and Janet (Martin) Kelly (William).
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Kevin and Joseph Loss; Kristen (Loss) Simmons (Jake); Dystiny Loss; Kylee (Loss) Stenersen (Mitchell); Sarah (Loss) Stone (Bradley); Tori (Loss) Offutt (Christopher); Charlie Loss; Emily Loss; and Madison Loss. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Nora and Shea Simmons, Evelyn Loss, and Charlotte and Carson Offutt, along with many nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was a woman of quiet strength and purpose. She served her country in the United States Navy, where she met her husband, graduating at the top of her class and working as a Yeoman at Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. She carried the same discipline, grace, and humility into every role she held.
In the years that followed, Carolyn devoted herself to raising her four sons and building a home rooted in faith and love. She became a certified teacher and founder of Renewing Love Ministries, where she taught others about faith, marriage, and family life. She was also an accomplished artist, earning recognition in multiple mediums, and a published author.
Carolyn was known for her sweet and gentle spirit, her warm sense of humor, and her love of animals-especially dogs and horses. She found joy in music, playing both the piano and guitar.
Her faith guided every part of her life. She loved Scripture and lived her beliefs daily, serving her parish as a cantor, lector, and Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist.
Carolyn’s life was one of devotion, service, and quiet excellence. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and grace that will continue to shape generations to come.
