Carolyn Elizabeth Lee Hooffstetter

June 16, 1929 — June 2, 2014

Carolyn Elizabeth Lee Hooffstetter, 84, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Capt.William Benson Hooffstetter, USN (Ret.), entered into eternal rest Monday, June 2, 2014. Her memorial service will be held Saturday, June 7, 2014, in the Bishop Gadsden Chapel, One Bishop Gadsden Way, at 2 pm. A private burial will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.

Carrie was born June 16, 1929 in Flint, Michigan, daughter of the late James William Lee and Mabel Elizabeth Farner Lee. Following 26 years as a mother and spouse to a career naval officer, Carrie entered the business world and started Golden & Associate Antiques with Andy Golden.

She is survived by her daughter, Norine Mary Helms (Danny) of Monroe, NC; son, Louis J. Hooffstetter of Charleston, six grandchildren, Jared Villalobos (Amanda), Jack Hooffstetter, Christiaan Hooffstetter, Jeremy Helms (Catherine), Robby Hooffstetter, Alan Helms (Amy); a great-granddaughter, Brittany Helms; niece, Christine Ruspaj (Fred); and a nephew, David Lawless (Sue). She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Hooffstetter; brother, Rev. James W. Lee, Edward S. Lee; and sister, Rosemary Lawless.

Carrie was a dynamic lady who never met a challenge that she did not accept.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Employee Appreciation Fund C/O Bishop Gadsden, One Bishop Gadsden Way, Charleston SC 29412.
