Carolyn Lee Carroll Dawson, 82, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of John Edward Dawson, III, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 31, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2025 in the St. John's Catholic Church, 3921 St. Johns Avenue at 11:00 am. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
Carolyn was born January 9, 1943 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late James Ernest Carroll and Helen Bazar Carroll. Carolyn and Johnny have been happily married for 62 years and raised their four children in North Charleston where she could always be found at a local ballfield either coaching or cheering on the kids in many sporting events and activities. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was their biggest supporter in sports and in life. She rarely missed a game, recital, school event or any opportunity where she could always be heard bragging about their accomplishments (and the first one to heckle or challenge an umpire if needed.) Carolyn had a deep love for the Clemson Tigers and spent many summer days with her family and friends at Folly Beach. She spent 20 years working at Charleston OBGYN, always greeting their patients with a warm and comforting smile. She loved and cared for so many others and will forever leave her legacy through the many lives she touched.
In addition to her husband, Carolyn is survived by her children, Kelly P. Dawson (Sheila) of Hanahan, SC, Michelle D. Lloyd (Danny) of Summerville, SC, and Tiffany D. Murray (Rob) of Charleston, SC; daughter-in-law, Michele Dawson of North Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Taylor Moore (Chad), Haley Dawson, Daniel Lloyd, Cooper Dawson, Garrick Murray, Drew Lloyd, and Ellie Murray; and great-grandchildren, Dawson and Nolan Moore. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her son, John (Skipper) Dawson; and her dear friend, Chel Whaley.
A special thank you to her Sister-in-law, Barbara Dawson, for her special care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Carolyn's memory to St. Johns Catholic Church.
