Carolyn F. Byrd

Carolyn F. Byrd, 85, of Orlando, Florida, formerly of Charleston, SC, wife of Ernest Alfred Byrd entered into eternal rest Tuesday, April 5, 2016. Carolyn lived the past few years in Florida with her daughter due to her declining health. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 9, 2016 in Cherokee Place United Methodist Church, 2105 Cosgrove Avenue, at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL.

Carolyn was born May 14, 1930 in Meridian, Mississippi, daughter of the late Robert C. Fairchild and Eva McCaskill Fairchild. She graduated from Roper School of Nursing and worked as a teacher and registered nurse. Carolyn and Al met in 1949 at Folly Beach and were married on June 6, 1952. Carolyn was a member of Cherokee Place United Methodist Church. She was an avid bowler and loved to play Bridge. For the past five years she was part of a Parkinson's outreach program in Orlando.

In addition to her husband, Al, of Charleston, SC; she is survived by her children, Steven Byrd (Joan) of Tallahassee, FL, Michele Arms (David) of Orlando, FL and Keven Byrd (Robin) of Charleston, SC; seven grandchildren, Danielle, Melissa, Christine, Justin, Matthew, Jenna, and Carlye; and six great-grandchildren, Brendon, Cody, Ethan, Korianne, Emma, and Clark.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Coye Riley.
