Carolyn Davis Bailey

Carolyn Davis Bailey, 81, of Mount Pleasant, SC, former longtime resident of Charlotte, NC and wife of James Michael Bailey entered into eternal rest Thursday, October 27, 2022, in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.  A memorial gathering of friends and family will be held Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, her service to follow at McEwen Funeral Home-Mint Hill Chapel, Charlotte, NC. 

Carolyn was born July 28, 1941, in Paintsville, Kentucky, one of seven children of the late Walter Davis and the late Elizabeth Daniel Davis Mollett. She was a graduate of Paintsville High School and pursued a homemaking degree from Eastern Kentucky University. When she and Mike married in 1962, they started a family, and it was her great joy to be a stay-at-home mom. Later she owned and operated a clothing store named Mint Hill Loungewear Outlet, that evolved into Keleby's, the namesake of all three of her children. Carolyn was a wonderful seamstress and cook who also enjoyed playing tennis and walking. Before moving to Mt Pleasant, SC she was a faithful member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church and Forest Hills Church in Charlotte, NC.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, James Michael "Mike" Bailey; son, Jonathan Lee Bailey (Pam) of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Kelly Bailey Kruse (Tom) of Mount Pleasant, SC; son,  Michael Bryan Bailey (Keely) of Denver, NC;  sister, Phyllis Stafford; brothers, Billy Joe Davis (Tammy) and Walter Davis, Jr.; grandchildren, Jackson Lee Bailey, Christian Davis Bailey, Davis Thomas Kruse, Coleman Dixon Bailey, and Bruce Allen Baldwin III and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Gene Davis and sister, Charlotte Melvin.
