Caroline Boykin Edwards Sires, 79, of Mount Pleasant, SC, wife of the late Burnet Frank Sires, died Monday, March 21, 2016. Burial will be private.
Caroline was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, daughter of the late Edward Ernest Edwards and the late Sarah Elizabeth Godley Edwards. She attending Armstrong College.
Prior to retirement, she was employed by East Cooper School as a secretary for a number of years. Caroline enjoyed gardening and loved American and South Carolina history. She participated in many community activities over the course of her life, including membership in the DAR, South Carolina Historical Society, Alhambra Garden Club and Christ Church.
Caroline devoted herself to being a good wife and mother to her three children while withstanding the challenges of a longstanding illness and physical disabilities.
She is survived by her daughter, Beth Lewis of Mount Pleasant, SC, son, Edward Sires of Hilton Head, SC, and grandson, Haynes Lewis of Mount Pleasant, SC. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Frank Sires and a sister, Betty Holt.
