Caroline was born in Cross, SC on February 6, 1955. Daughter of the late Joe Whitten and Clair Huger Whitten, she was one of nine siblings. Growing up in the rural low country, she graduated from Cross High. Enlisting in the military at the young age of eighteen, she served as a communications specialist in various locations. While stationed in Tacoma, she met the love of her life. They created a beautiful family together and were married forty years. Her infectious smile and calming spirit drew people to her. Caroline was dedicated to her family and dearly loved her children. She was an anchor to her family and a beacon of hope that inspired so many. She genuinely loved people and knew no stranger. She gave the best advice and was non-judgmental. No matter who you were, you could always call Caroline in a time of need. She will always be remembered and loved for her wisdom, guidance and joy.

Caroline loved spending time outdoors in her yard and with her grandchildren. Many memories were made taking them on fishing trips, strawberry picking, doing yard work (burning leaves) and ice cream dates. She was generous with her time and gentle with her loving.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for the majority of her adult life. She loved her brethren dearly. Over the span of decades, she formed and nurtured lifelong friendships. These relationships resulted in her having extended brothers, sisters, sons and daughters spanning the country.

In addition to her husband, Caroline will be fondly remembered by her daughters, Naisha Perez, Andrea Colson (Cameron), and Ramona Perez; sons, Cody Perez (Therese) and Joshua Perez (Melissa); sisters, Lillie Whitten, Ellen Whitten, and Patricia Whitten; brothers, Joe Whitten Jr. (Shirlyn) and John Whitten (Gloria); grandchildren, Samaya, Seray, Serenity, Lincoln, Olivia, Landon, Kingston, Karsyn, Jeffery, and Charleigh; mother-in-law, Erika Byun and bonus daughter, Kellie Cambridge; sisters-in-law, Bernice Huger and Dale Whitten; aunts, Whilemina Gavin (Eddie) and Evelyn Huger; and a host of special nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her three brothers: Leroy Huger, Moses Whitten and Robert Lee Whitten.
