Caroline Mae Whiteley Hill, 97, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Tandy J. Hill, USMC Master Sgt (Ret.), entered into eternal rest Wednesday, September 14, 2016. Her Funeral Service will be held Sunday, September 18, 2016 in Lutheran Church of The Redeemer, 714 Riverdale Drive at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Caroline was born December 22, 1918 at Sullivan's Island, SC, where her father was employed with the U.S. Lighthouse Service. She was the daughter of the late Pinckney Lamberton Whiteley and Carrie Sellers Whiteley. She was a graduate of Murray Vocational School in 1938, and employed with Cameron and Barkley and J. M. Fields. Caroline was a Charter member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Woman of the Year 1973, Swamp Fox Chapter of ABWA, and a former member of the Knights of Pythias.
She is survived by her two daughters, Carol H. Dirks of Summerville, SC, Nancy D. Hill of Charleston, SC; granddaughter, Jennifer S. Plaszczenski of Camden, SC; nieces and nephews, Tom Blizard (Margaret) of Charleston, SC, Gene Blizard (Dixie) of Mechanicsville, VA, Donald L. Whiteley, Jr., (Lori) of Goose Creek, SC, Barbara W. Short of Smyrna, TN, Donnell W. Jones (Lonnie) of Charlevoix, MI, and Kathy W. Mushlit of Charlevoix, MI.
