Caroline Ball Hawkey, 51, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Blake Edward Hawkey, died Sunday, November 18, 2012. Her Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2012 in the Chapel at Bishop Gadsden at 2:00 p.m with another service in Columbia SC yet to be scheduled. Arrangements by J. Caroline was born August 10, 1961 in Bamberg, South Carolina, daughter of The Rev. Canon John C. Ball, Jr., and the late Helen Ingle Ball. She was a devoted mother and a true southern lady in the Charleston tradition. In her younger years was an accomplished classical ballet dancer, Caroline was an Honor Graduate at University of South Carolina Nursing School and was a long time employee as a Registered Nurse, working in the PACU at Kershaw Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband, Blake E. Hawkey of Charleston, SC, daughter, Caroline Rhett Hawkey of Columbia, SC, son, Donald Keith Hawkey of Rock Hill, SC, father, The Rev. Canon John C. Ball, Jr., of James Island, SC, two sisters; Sarah Damewood (Greg) of John's Island, SC, and Helen "Nellie" Brennan (Robbie) of Columbia, SC, mother-in-law Mary Pat Hawkey of Lugoff ,SC, father-in-law, Don Hawkey of Lugoff, SC, brother-in-law, Brian K. Hawkey (Elliott) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and sister-in-law, Dawn Walker of Lugoff, SC and brother in law, Christopher Vogelsang of Buffalo, NY. In addition, Caroline had several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Charlotte Vogelsang.
