Caroline “Carolyn” Morris Cramer, 88, of North Charleston, South Carolina, wife of the late William “Big Bill” M. Cramer Jr, entered into eternal peace and rest on Monday, July 20, 2026. Her Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 27, 2026 at Deer Park Baptist Church, 8875 University Blvd in North Charleston, SC at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens at 7113 Rivers Ave in North Charleston, SC. The family will receive friends just prior to the service at DeeAllison Wright r Park Baptist Church at 9:00am.

Carolyn was born February 24, 1938 in Barnwell, South Carolina, daughter of the late Charlie Leighton Morris and the late Maggie Lorene Birt Morris. She grew up on a farm with 3 sisters and 3 brothers, where she never lacked for a playmate or a partner in crime. There was no indoor plumbing, but plenty of love, and lots of shenanigans. Carolyn received the nickname of “Cowhead” when a schoolmate could not pronounce her name properly, and her brothers made sure the name stuck. Once her children learned the story, they made sure she received cow-related gifts forevermore, like cow-shaped cookie jars that moo’d, cow-themed cards, and more.

Carolyn moved to Charleston at age 17 where she lived downtown with her Aunt Alma and Uncle Wilbur. She worked the “split shift” for Southern Bell for 10 years, working in the morning, going to the beach with her friends in the afternoon, then finishing her shift at night. She was tough, attending an Elvis concert downtown one night after just having her wisdom teeth removed that morning! She loved pretty clothes and shopping on King Street, and always looked her very best. Her life changed when she fell while skating and broke her arm, and was picked up by a dapper young man named “Bill”. She gave him little interest, but he persevered, hanging out and talking with her Uncle Wilbur till the wee hours. Wilbur finally told her she needed to date this man because he needed some sleep, and the rest was history.

Carolyn and Bill married in 1957 at Long Branch Baptist Church, where her family still attends and she visited as often as she could. She became a home-maker after the birth of her children, then a substitute teacher after they were all in school, where she was regularly the “Room Mother” for her children’s school classes. When the last was almost grown, she began a new career at Allstate Insurance Company Claims Department, where she met forever friends before retiring after 20 years. Carolyn was a life-long Sunday School and Mission Friends teacher at Dor-Way Baptist Church and Deer Park Baptist Church. Carolyn positively impacted many young lives over her lifetime, and aways had a smile on her face, a kind word to say, solid advice to give, and a positive outlook on life. Carolyn saw the best in everyone, and always looked on the bright side of things, earning her the nickname of “Polyanna”. She volunteered at the Naval Weapons Station Pharmacy for many years after retirement, and invested even more time and love in her grandchildren over the years. She also enjoyed serving in the food pantry and other church activities.

She is survived by son, William (“Billy”) M. Cramer, III (Virgen "Vicky" Soccorro) of North Charleston, SC; daughters, Allison Wright (Kenneth) and Cindy Thomas (Jody) of Goose Creek, SC; grandchildren, Rebekah Thomas, Samuel Cramer (Kimberly Roberts), his mother Vanessa, Carson Wright (Meredith), Rachel Guerra (Brad), Daniel Wright, Kyle Thomas (Kynlie), Carlos Robles (Casie), and Alex Robles (Leticia); great-grandchildren, Gianna Guerra, August Wright, Hanley, Everett and Caroleena Robles, and Luna Robles; sister, Ruth Ineta Morris Rutland of Blackville, SC, brother, Eddie Rogers Morris of Williston, SC, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Mary Virginia Morris Hutto and Glorene Morris Johnston, and brothers Charlie Cleveland Morris and Leighton McArthur Morris.
